Does your dog come with you everywhere you go?

We've put together a list of some of our favorite dog-friendly destinations in the continental United States. Whether you love the city or a getaway in nature, exploring our nation's history or its quirky side.

Don't forget our helpful tips for taking your dog along on a roadtrip too.

These dog-welcoming destinations will keep everyone--and every pet-- happy!

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Nature lovers - this one is for you.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee, nestled in the Smoky Mountains, is the perfect woodsy getaway.

The Gatlinburg Sky Lift allows dogs to ride for free, so you can bring your pal to the top and hike back down together through the natural beauty of the Crockett Mountain.
There are also plenty of pet-friendly cabins for rustic types to get away from it all, along with more traditional hotels that welcome pets.

Austin, Texas

The capitol city of Texas has a pretty laid-back vibe. As they say, "Keep Austin Weird".

With lots of dog-welcoming retail spots and restaurants and 15 off-leash dog parks, the city is as welcoming to pups as it is to all things weird and wonderful.

Check out McKinley State Park, 700 acres of pristine wilderness just a few miles outside the city.

Just be sure that pets are kept on-leash or they can learn the hard way about those famous Texas cacti!

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Cape Cod is a classic vacation destination for two-footed travelers and four-footed companion as well!

Some beaches have restrictions on dogs during the summer, so if you're visiting during the warm months, stick to Truro, Wellfleet, Orleans, and Eastham Beach that accept dogs year-round.

The Cape Cod Rail Trail, a historic former railroad line, is great for hiking with your pooch, and food and water are available along the way when you need a pit stop.

Alexandria, Virginia

Bring your dog along as your discover historic Alexandria, Virginia.

Dogs are welcome at Torpedo Factory Art Center, along with nearby City Marina, where "Canine Cruises" are available several times a year.

The Monaco hotel hosts dog-friendly "Yappy Hours" twice a week, April through October.

Dogs are also welcome on Alexandria's spooky and unusual Footsteps of the Past Walking Tours.
