Today we have a special story to share... and a giveaway!

But first, a special story

Meet Kayla

Kayla has a heart for animals and an artistic flair - so naturally when she started painting, she painted pets.

In 2016 she started her official artist page & accepted commissions from many pet owners across the United States. Folks loved her colorful watercolors. She captured dogs, cats, big and small, and painted watercolor paintings so full of life & personality - everyone loved them!

Kayla's life is full of animal love, particularly for bully breed dogs, of which she has three.

Meet Diggy

At the same time, not far away in Waterford Michigan, an American bulldog was getting a lot of attention. Diggy the smiling dog was adopted, after over 100 days in the shelter, he had found a perfect companion, and they both were full of smiles.

After his photo went viral, Diggy was soon the center of a serious legal battle between Waterford Township police and Diggy's new family. The battle was over a law that banned "pit bulls" from the township.

You see, the police "decided that Diggy was a pit bull" and wasn't allowed. But Diggy is an American Bulldog, and his owners did everything they could to fight the unfair & unjustified new labeling of their dog.

"Waterford, Mich., is a township where certain dog breeds are outlawed, under a type of ordinance known as breed-specific legislation, or BSL.” - Washington Post

The world paid attention, petitions were signed by thousands of supporters, and the lawyers fought hard all summer to help Diggy stay home.

Around this time, Kayla was inspired to paint that smily dog Diggy and turn his portrait into something joyful, full of color and life, like Diggy himself.

Not bad, huh?

In September, the court case was dropped. Diggy will get to stay home, where he's happy and free. Hurray!

"Diggy The Dog Will Stay With His Family" -

Kayla, didn't know Diggy's owners personally, but she wanted to gift them the portrait, so she shouted out to her friends on Social Media to see if anyone knew Diggy's owners. And sure enough, someone did!

Cue the happy reunion:

We're so happy this story has a happy ending!

Perfect for a nice large frame.

These celebrities can't hide their love for dogs

Kevin Dixon

We love seeing celebrities with their dogs, especially when they've rescued dogs from shelters and given them a great new home. Can you say #luckydog?

Here are some of our favorite dog-loving celebs and the luckiest dogs we know.

Miranda Lambert

And Miranda she shows a lot of love for them on her Instagram. These two (Cher and Delta) look pretty adorable for this festive photo. We love how Miranda uses clever hashtags too, turning her dog's names into puns and rhymes like we all do. #celebritiesarejustlikeus

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan wasn't planning to adopt a dog that day, but he saw Baxter at an SPCA in Houston and whispered to him "Hey, let's get the hell out of here" and the dog jumped up like he spoke english fluently, so off they went. We think Baxter is a pretty lucky dog!

They're still trying to come up with a safe-word. Any suggestions are welcome. But "Codswallop" is taken.

Hillary Swank

Hillary Swank has adopted so many rescue dogs, we're losing count. She's a great advocate for rescue organizations and shows us how much fun it can be to walk, hike, run and play in the sand with our dogs.

Her Instagram is full of amazing dog moments. We think the dogs are pretty happy, don't you?

Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon loves his Granddog too Kevin and his wife Kyra Sedgwick have both rescued pitbulls and love to show love for bully breeds. Lately though, he's all about the grandkids (or in this case grand-dogs) on Instagram.

Do you have a canine extended family too?

Dogs We Love: Grinning Gluta

Kevin Dixon

Dogs are naturally pretty happy-go-lucky, so to saw that you've got the happiest dog in the world is quite a statement. One look at Gluta, though, and you've gotta agree, she's one happy pooch.

Gluta was a stray dog rescued in her native Thailand. Her owner discovered troubling symptoms that eventually turned out to be cervical cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy, the lucky pup was eventually deemed cancer-free. From the joyful look that never seems to leave Gluta's face, it's clear she's made a full recovery. These days, Gluta is the star of her own Tumblr where photographer Sorasart Wisetsin documents her adventures. Whether lounging in fields of grass or wearing a variety of items on her head, Gluta brings joy wherever she goes.

Dogs We Love: Maddie on Things

Kevin Dixon

Every pet owner's done it: Your dog is standing there, minding her own business when suddenly the idea pops into your head, "Wouldn't it be funny if I could get her to stand on top of that tall thing over there?" Generally our practical side will win out of these sorts of silly/crazy/dangerous ideas. But when photographer Theron Humphrey has a similar train of thought, instead of talking himself out of the crazy idea to pose his dog on top of his truck, he ran with it. What developed was a series of (highly entertaining) photos of his coonhound, Maddie, entitled simply, Maddie on Things.

Maddie On ThingsMaddie On Things

Maddie the Coonhound is a rescue (yay!) who accompanied Humphrey on a photo project across the country. He began photographing her along the way and discovered Maddie's uncanny ability to balance atop just about anything. The photos gained a following on Instagram and soon Maddie and her balancing act went viral. She's become something of a celebrity, having appeared on The Today Show and Buzzfeed, just to name a few.

Maddie the Coonhound

These  days, Maddie seems to be doing less balancing, but between William Wegman-style photo opps and a book tour, her life is still quite lovely, and definitely well-documented. For more pics of Maddie on things, check out her Instagram or website.
